Doktrin pra-keberadaan Yesus menegaskan keberadaan ontologi atau Yesus sebelum kelahirannya. Salah satu firman Alkitab yang relevan adalah Yohanes 1:1–18 dimana, dalam interpretasi Trinitarian , Yesus diidentifikasikan dengan ilahi pra-eksisten yang disebut Logos atau Friman. Dari pandangan non-Trinitarian , terdapat pandangan yang mempertanyakan aspek pra-keberadaan pribadi, atau aspek ilahi, atau keduanya.
Doktrin tersebut direiterasikan dalam Yohanes 17:5 ketika Yesus merujuk kepada kemenangan dimana ia telah ada dengan Bapa "sebelum dunia" pada amanat Perpisahan . [ 2 ] Yohanes 17:24 juga menyebut Bapa mencintai Yesus "sebelum pembentukan dunia". [ 2 ]
